Jennifer's Story

Jennifer spent some of her earliest weekends running around school hallways with her little sister, while her dad was coaching the school basketball team, or while her mom was setting up classes for the new school year.

She loved school growing up, and was grateful for the education that helped her prepare for challenging post-secondary education and find exciting work across the country and around the world.

Jennifer returned home ten years ago to raise her children, and let them benefit from everything Saskatchewan has to offer. As her children grew through their own public school journeys, Jennifer noticed that so many compounding challenges are making it harder for our system to deliver the education we want for ALL Saskatoon children.

The work of building the safe & high-performing learning environments the public expects is not easy. Jennifer knows this and is eager to invest her time and skills to help make it happen, for the sake of our children, our economy and a healthier society.

Jennifer wants to hear from YOU!

Jennifer won't ever bother you during dinner, but she does want to answer your questions and hear your concerns!

WHY vote for Jennifer Scherman for trustee?

Invested

Jennifer is a 25-year resident of Ward 5. She grew up here, then came back to raise her kids here too, who now go to a Ward 5 public school. She volunteers in the community and is invested in its future.

Informed

Jennifer comes from a family of educators. She is mentored by her mother, Suzanne Zwarych, benefitting from her 40-year career as a teacher, administrator and school board trustee for Saskatoon's public schools.

Jennifer's own education and experience as a parent has helped her become a knowledgeable advocate for evidence-based literacy and math instruction. She believes that both can help to provide greater equity for ALL Saskatoon students, and that both are critical to growing Saskatchewan's economy and building a healthier society.

Experienced

Jennifer has 13 years of experience in management and governance. She has worked in leadership roles in the aerospace sector in Montreal, Toronto and China, and in healthcare with the SHA and the Sask Cancer Agency.

Her private & public sector management experience will help her to balance the many competing priorities and constraints in our education system, always putting students first.

Jennifer's education in Engineering (USask), Math (USask), Management (McGill) and Finance (CFA Institute) will help her to provide strong, data-driven governance that will ensure our limited resources are used wisely.

Ready

Jennifer knows what it will take to do justice to the important role that a public school board trustee can play. She has recently shifted gears to part-time self-employed work and has both the capacity and the desire to invest her time and her skills to improve our public education system.
